ABL Fantasy Week 14 and final results

This is the last round of weekly results.  The regular season is done and dusted and we are in to play-offs.  Congratulations to the Brisbane Bandits, the Canberra Cavalry and the Adelaide Bite who are play-off-bound.  Congratulations and thanks to everyone who played Fantasy with me this year.

• Best Fantasy batter for the week – Travis Demeritte
• Best Fantasy pitcher for the week – Steve Kent

 

Our Week 14 winner was Hentyj with a very handy 194 points, Rob Trims second with 179 and Wheelie Barrow in third with 167.

 

In terms of our overall competition, this week’s results did not ruffle first and second place, but did finalise third place, which has seen some extremely close racing and lots of changes.  Our top three Fantasy tippers for the 2015/16 ABL season are:

1. Brook Kilpatrick of ABL Buzz, ABL Hotcorner and the mighty Glenelg Tigers
2. Gary Nilsson of the Queensland Nilsson baseball dynasty
3. Robert Trims of Brisbane Fandits and the regular inspirer of feelings of inadequacy in all sporting endeavours

Special mention to Steve Smith who also regularly held the third place spot over the course of the season.

 

The short-season competition (between 4 and 13 weeks tipping inclusive) for Fantasy tippers who either started late or finished early or had a mysterious gap around Christmas shook out as follows:

1. Hentyj33 with team Henty’s Elite, averaging 144 points in 12 weeks of play
2. DiscoStu with the Bow River Khe Sahns, averaging 140 points in 9 weeks of play
3. Zzzzzzzzzzebras with the zzzzzzzebra team, averaging 131 points in 5 weeks of play

Thanks also to the many, many players who gave it a go for 1 or 2 weeks. It was always fun to see new names challenging the existing players on a week to week basis.

A review of the players’ fantasy performances will follow sometime after the Adelaide / Canberra Semi-final series.

ABL Fantasy Week 13 results

Week 13 saw the Perth Heat join the Melbourne Aces outside the race for third place and sees the Sydney Blue Sox hanging on by a thread, dependent on two sweeps going their way in the final week to make it through.

It was a good week for pitching with a number of the pitchers scoring more than 20 points. Edwin Carl was our best pitcher with a huge 35 points.  He let a few hits through, but struck-out 11 and walked only 1 over 7 innings.

The bats were much quieter this week with no single score over 20. Josh Davies just pipped the rest of the field by scoring 18 points.

Our Week 13 winner was Gary Nilsson with 170 points followed by cricketkay and Boris, with Stever Smith and Shorty tied in 4^th.

Our full season race has Boris out in front on 2074, followed by Gary Nilsson on 1976, Steve Smith on 1896, Rob Trims on 1888, and Klattsy on 1866.

The short-season comp has DiscoStu in front on 140 points, Henty on 139, and zzzzebras on 131.

ABL Fantasy Week 12 results

We had another slugging fest this weekend and some exciting come-from-behind wins for a number of clubs.

Our top fantasy batter was Rhys Hoskins.

Top fantasy pitcher was Jason Jarvis.

Our winner for this week was Klattsy again, making a late season surge.  This week saw Henty and Duck come through for second and third.

Our full-season comp sees Boris still on top, with Gary in second.  Rob Trims in third is only 8 points in front of Steve Smith, with Klattsy in fifth charging down the straight.

Short-season comp has Henty and Disco Stu tied on 140 for the lead, zzzzzzebra friend (where are you??) is next with 131, then Mac and Crash Davis tied on 127.

ABL Fantasy Week 11 results

It was the New Year and there was baseball!

Welcome to 2016 and the inevitable crushing reality that the season is nearly over. *sob*

Allan, Allan, Allan was our best Fantasy Bat with Marc Wik and Ryan Miller also scoring more than 30 fantasy points.

Josh Tols started a game against Sydney and the line is pretty enough that I’m going to watch that game on replay – our best fantasy pitcher for the week.

Klattsy won the round, but Boris came a close second and stretched his lead a little over the full-season pack – which now has Gary Nilsson in second with Steve Smith and Rob Trims fighting it out for third.

In the short-season comp, Disco Stu is 4 points in front of Henty, with zzzzebras in third, another 6 points behind.

ABL Fantasy Week 10 results

Week 10 came hard on the heels of Christmas and I hope you and yours had a lovely celebration of whatever kind you prefer. If you were working – thank you for your time away from family and friends.

A whole heap of new players arrived and did not make it on to the Fantasy Rosters.  Regardless of the playing time shuffle, Mac’s judged who would and wouldn’t be playing and whipped everyone else in Week 10 with a high score of 147 points.

Our cumulative competition currently has Boris out in front of Rob Trims and Gary Nilsson, who are only 2 points apart in the race for second, with Steve Smith close behind.

Our short season comp has seen a lot more players added over the last couple of weeks and now has Disco Stu and Henty one point apart in first and second place respectively, with Mac making a huge surge on the basis of this week’s score to come up to third.

Our best fantasy bats for the week were a 3-way split between TJ Bennett, Riley Unroe and Davis Page.

The pitchers also had a 3-way split between Justin Erasmus, Brian Grening and Virgil Vasquez.

Just a note – half of those players are on the Bandits, who are immensely fun to watch this year.

ABL Fantasy Week 9 results

Week 9 of the ABL saw a lot of hit batters, a lot of our high-scoring players out with injury and the start of the traditional late-December farewells to imports and welcome-backs to previously shut-down locals.

Our best fantasy bat for the week was David Harris, with Jacob Younis only one point behind and the only other player to score more than 20 points.

Our best fantasy pitcher was Tom Bailey, with Matthew Rae only one point behind in his first time in the starter’s role in the ABL.

Christmas is taking its toll on the fantasy field.  Those of us getting a little distracted with Christmas parties and Christmas baking are having a harder time of staying on top of things – like sending out reminder emails.  Apologies if you were waiting on that 😦

This weeks best pitcher was Yasuo Sano of the Melbourne Aces, making his second appearance on this list.

This week your faithful ABL Fantasy number-cruncher went to too many Christmas parties and lugged a pack around the Blue Mountains National Park, so you’ll have to tell me the cool and funny stuff that happened at the ballparks, because I had an accidental break from baseball.

Brian Grening got lit up. The Blue Sox swept the Bandits. Perth lost a game  to Melbourne 14-0. Cats and dogs got along together.  Really fun weekend all around the ballparks.
